Wendy Cowan Obituary

Wendy Lynn Cowan (nee Grove) April 3, 1940 to November 10, 2015.

Wendy passed away peacefully at St. John Hospice on November 10th, 2015 at 9:05pm with her husband and daughters at her bedside. Wendy is predeceased by her mother Eileen Nicholson (Grove), father Lowell 'Lefty' Grove, and sister in law Joan Grove. Wendy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Bob. Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Christine Cowan (Rick Susnjara), Diana Miller (James Miller), and Lynda Cowan (Anthony DelBosco); grandchildren Rylee and Mimi Miller; siblings Terry Grove (Wendy), Lesley Beiderweiden (Jim), and Laurie Grove.

Wendy was born in Edmonton, AB, raised in Penticton BC and moved to Vancouver to attend UBC and VGH School of Nursing. Wendy worked as an RN for over 30 years at BC Children's Hospital in the operating room, specializing in pediatric open-heart surgery. Wendy was a volunteer with the Junior League of Vancouver, the Friends of the Garden (FOGS) at UBC Botanical Garden, and a member of the Vancouver Garden Club and the Probus Club of Vancouver. Wendy was also a member of the Order of St. John and involved in the building of St. John Hospice.

Wendy enjoyed golf and yoga at Shaughnessy, skiing at Whistler, summers in Penticton, annual trips to Napili Kai Beach Resort, as well as travelling with her husband and friends. Wendy was known for her love and dedication to her family and friends and her commitment to St. John's Vancouver Anglican Church.

The service will be held at St. John's Vancouver Anglican Church, 5350 Bailie St. Vancouver BC on November 27th, 2015 at 2pm.
