 In Loving Memory of Vo Minh Tam

Tam Minh Vo Entered into the presence of the Lord on May 31,2026 at 5:16 AM. Born on June 16, 1953, in Saigon, Vietnam, he was the third of four children to Nguyen Thi Bay and Vo Minh Trung. From a young age, Tam was not only studious, but athletic and honorable, when offered a basketball scholarship to the the University of Saigon, he declined until his teammates were granted the same chance for higher education. During this time, he met and fell in love with the woman of his dreams, Ngo Thi Tam, they married in 1975 and shared 50 years together during which they raised two children, Trang and Richard. Tam’s work ethic and intellect shone brightly as he earned a medical degree with high honors in 1978. Due to political unrest, Tam and his wife made the courageous decision to leave Vietnam and build a safer and brighter future for their family. In 1980, they arrived in Vancouver, Canada there, he forged a highly respected 30-year career as an Ecotoxicologist (BC Research/Cantest/Maxxam), widely regarded by his colleagues for his professional dedication, his sharp sense of humor, and his wise mentorship. A devout Catholic, Tam was longstanding and active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish in Vancouver. Outside of his faith and career, he was an avid biker and skilled table tennis and volleyball player. He and his wife cherished their time frequenting English Bay and Stanley Park by tandem bike. 

Above all, Tam was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joys in were making his beloved wife happy, fiercely supporting his children, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. His kindness, generosity, and boundless love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Until the very end, he was true to himself: well-mannered, funny, loving and strong. God alone called him from this life, ending his earthly journey and beginning his eternal reward. His love, wisdom, and spirit will live on in all who knew him. Tam is survived by his loving wife, Tam; daughter, Trang (Jeremy); son Richard (Elizabeth); grandchildren Finley, Fisher, Julia, and Eleanor, sister Anh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
