Gregory Francis Coyle

On July 6, 2021, Gregory Francis Coyle passed away in his sleep.

Greg was born, September 17, 1953, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 8th child to Geraldine Marie Coyle (nee St. Jacques) and John Valois Coyle. The family moved to New Westminster, British Columbia, where he attended St. Peter’s Elementary School and New Westminster Secondary School. He attended mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy. Greg was married for 15 years to Anne Coyle and was a proud father of 4 children. They lived in Langley, BC. He enjoyed doing handyman work and helping the neighborhood kids fix their bikes.

For the last 10 years of his life Greg lived in the Russel House in New Westminster. He volunteered in the kitchen, making coffee, and he helped with the ‘Eyes on the Street’ program doing garbage cleanups. He was also very involved with Union Gospel Mission, helping in the kitchen there as well. Greg enjoyed listening to classical music, reading history and factual books, doing crosswords, and going for walks.  

Greg is survived by his 4 children, Amanda (Dave), Jonathan, Theraesa (Dan), and Nathaniel; his 3 grandchildren, Eva, John, and Felix; his 4 sisters, Erin, Kathy, Beth, and Janice; 5 of his 6 brothers, Terry, Brian (Sheilah), Dan (Barb), Ferg, and Brendan (Melanie); and his many nieces and nephews and their children. His oldest brother Kevin (Carol) and his parents, Geraldine and John, predeceased him. 

On behalf of Greg, the family would like to send out a special thanks to Chris at the Lookout Society’s Russel House and to Mario at the Union Gospel Mission, both in New Westminster, for all the support and friendship that they gave to Greg.

Greg was a giving man and would give the shirt off his back to help someone else in need. To honor him, the family would like all donations to be made to the Lookout Society.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on July 23, 2021, at the Gardens of Gethsemani, 15694-32 Avenue, Surrey, BC.
