It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelina Elle Baldelli, at only 16 years of age. Evelina passed away unexpectedly after losing her battle with longstanding mental health and substance abuse disorders on June 13, 2023, at home in Burnaby.
Evelina was born on July 6, 2006, in Cincinnati, Ohio and was adopted with great joy immediately after her birth by her parents Rob and Debbie Baldelli. They named her after Debbie’s mom, Evelyn Ella. Evelina grew up in Burnaby with her younger sister, Giovanna, who she loved deeply and had an exceptionally close relationship.
Evelina will be remembered for her sense of humor, intelligence, determination, kindness, and love of beauty and fashion. Evelina hoped to instill confidence in other girls and make them feel good about themselves by opening a business in esthetics. Evelina had a large heart and was always willing to help anyone, anytime. Evelina was very athletic and enjoyed soccer, gymnastics, and basketball, as well as skiing and going to the gym. She also loved desserts, especially mango pudding and caramel sundaes. Evelina loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her dog at her mom’s home and her three cats at her dad’s house. She relished visiting Whistler and Maui where many great family memories were made.
Evelina is survived by her parents Rob Baldelli and Debbie Kernick Baldelli; and her sister Giovanna. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles Frank Kernick (Kendra Lowes), Brian Kernick (former wife Tully), Butch (Judy) Bishop, Ray (Cathy) Baldelli; and Angela Baldelli (Jeff Blushke). Her aunt and Godmother, Lori Kernick (Ron Smith) was a very special person to Evelina.
She also had many cousins who loved her deeply including Kayla (Braiden), Rydan and Lincoln Leth; Aimee (Jason) Kernick and Silas Burr; Kristopher Kernick, Hauxley and Quaid Kernick; Virginia (Sean Tremain), Piper and Dominic Bishop; Leighton and Ladawn Bishop; Corey and Ryan Blushke; and Adam Baldelli.
She had many special friends including Vincenzo (aka Vinny), Hailey and Nicole.
During her short life Evelina made an impact on many lives and her passing will be deeply felt by her family and many friends. She was a beautiful young woman with many talents and gifts and sadly was not able to realize her dreams.
