Ernest Alfred Wadeson Calvert passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving wife Janie and sister in law Carol Howorth. Ernie was born in London in 1931, inheriting from his lineage, the title Count Ernest Alfred Wadeson Calvert, conferred by the Holy Roman Empire from 18th century. He emigrated to Canada at age 18 in 1947. Initially he lived in Eastern Canada, but subsequently moved West to explore opportunities in gold mining in British Columbia.
When Ernie moved to Vancouver, he pursued a career in the stock market, along with other business interests. Shortly after his settling in Vancouver, he was joined by his mother Josie. In 1966 he met Janie Mason, whom he married in 1982. Together they have one daughter Cathleen Deirdre Calvert. Among his many interests he was most passionate about participation in the sport of rugby. He was heavily involved with the Kats Rugby Team, and later with the over 40s team, touring extensively around the world.
He is survived by his wife Janie, his daughter Cathleen as well as numerous family members in Canada and in England. He also leaves to mourn many business associates and rugby friends.
A small tea and reception will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Terminal City Club, 837 W Hastings St, Vancouver, BC V6C 1B6.
