Erika Norgaard

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Erika Norgaard.  Surrounded by family, her battle with lung cancer came to an end on October 3rd. We are rejoicing knowing that she is now completely healed and in the arms of Jesus her Saviour.  

She grew up in Sophienberg/Pommerania, East Germany, eventually moving to Vancouver in 1957 where she raised her two daughters on her own. Erika worked for the Children’s Aid society and then for the Ministry of Human Resources until her retirement in 2002. She was a delightful, unforgettable woman who loved knitting, poetry, travelling, playing games, volunteering, reading, the ocean, going for walks and Jesus. Her knitted slippers are on the feet of most people she met. She valued people and not possessions.  She had a difficult life but always counted her blessings and saw the positive in everything.  

Erika is survived by her two daughters,  Cora (Gordon) and Rhoda (Glenn), and her 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers, nurses and staff at Evergreen Heights Assisted Living. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her family will miss their Mutti and Omi.
