DR. ERWIN MIKLOS of Vancouver, beloved husband of Madeleine Miklos, passed away on Monday, December 15 at the age of 84 years. Besides his loving wife Madeleine, Erwin is survived by his daughters Karen and Gail (Michael) Murphy, grandsons Matthew, Jason, and Kieran, and his brother Reny of Edmonton. Erwin and Madeleine met as students at the University of Saskatchewan and were married in 1952. They moved to Alberta and lived in Arrowwood, Milo, Mossleigh, and Vulcan before spending 40 enjoyable years in Edmonton. Erwin was a devoted family man and was very proud of his family - especially seeing his grandsons grow up. The focus of Erwin's professional life was education. His career began as a teacher in one-room schools in northern Saskatchewan, continued with principalships in southern Alberta and many years as a professor and scholar in Educational Administration at the University of Alberta. A memorial service celebrating Erwin's life followed by interment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Edmonton will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erwin's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca.
