BRENT MICHAEL GRASSIE September 18, 1976 - April 26, 2015
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Brent at his home in Vancouver at the age of 38.
Left to cherish Brent's memory are his loving parents Jack and Donna; brother Sean; brother Scott, his wife Jenn and Brent's precious niece Cielo and nephew Maximo; his aunts, uncles and cousins: Diane and Ron Hucal; Pattie and Mark Campbell, Karyn, Nook, Avery, Emily, Hudson and Logan Stolniuk and Lauren and Jeff Lohneis; Susan and John Bothe, Brittany, Kristin and Chelsea; Sandy Opruk (Wayne), Daphne, Carissa and Talise. Brent will also be missed by his second cousin Mary Grassie and many more relatives and friends in Winnipeg and Vancouver. Brent's best friend was his dog Hendrix who was always by his side. Our family is so grateful that he will be able to stay in his community of Kitsilano cared for by Brent's dear friend Zena Billey.
Brent was predeceased by his grandparents Bud and Lal Grassie and Joyce, Orris and Connie Steinburg.
Brent was born and raised in St. James and graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1994. As a young adult his love of snowboarding, nature, the ocean and the mountains led him to the West Coast where he has lived the past 15 years. While in Burnaby B.C. he attended college and earned a Masters degree in Recording Arts. Brent was a gifted musician, artist and writer and touched the lives of so many with his gentle, kind soul.
A gathering of family and friends has taken place in Vancouver. A celebration of Brent's life will take place in Winnipeg on Sunday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Bourkevale Lawn Bowling Building, 90 Ferry Road. Brent loved all animals. Donations in his memory can be made to the Humane Society in either Winnipeg or Vancouver.
