March 26, 1949 – September 19, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara (`Biddy’) Edgington (nee´ Penrose) in the early morning of September 19, 2015, at her home in Dunbar after four challenging years living with cancer. She is survived by David, her husband of 34 years, and children Stephen and Sarah. Barbara has a surviving sister, Susie, living in south Wales. She was born in Milngavie, Scotland, and graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1971 with a degree in geography. Over her varied career Barbara was an urban and regional planner, a teacher and librarian, and worked in the United Kingdom and Australia before moving to Vancouver with her family in 1988. Barbara was a loving partner, a caring mother, and a good friend to many. She will be remembered for her love of flowers, plants and trees, nature and animals, her energy and capability, kindness and good sense. Barbara enjoyed traveling with her family to Japan, Italy, China, Hawaii and Mexico. She especially loved the family’s annual camping holiday on Hornby Island.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Southlands Heritage Farm, 6767 Balaclava Street, Vancouver, V6N 1R7, at 1pm Monday September 28th, 2015. Please RSVP to sarah.j.m.edgington@gmail.com.
