Shirley Spoor Obituary

Shirley passed away peacefully at home in Vancouver on July 4, 2019. She was born in Rocky Mountain House on June 10, 1926 to Marguerite and Leslie Becker. On Aug. 26, 1945 she married Robert Spoor and together they had nine children. We feel so fortunate to have had her as our mother, grandma and great grandma. Her family always came first and was her biggest joy. Her eternally youthful spirit was what made her so special to us.

She was always very active in her church and community.  Later in life she became the proprietor of Farmhouse Gift shop for 14 years. With her sharp wit and charisma, she was adored by all that met her.

Mom’s joyful spirit gave her a life filled with fun. She loved dancing and was always up for a celebration. Her beautiful smile and her love of life will always be inspirational. She had a generous soul and welcomed people into her life with open arms.

Mom was lovingly cared for by Jim and Brad for 12 years. Her family will be forever grateful for their devotion to her.

We would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers Marydel, Emelda, Harjit and Marybel.

Shirley is survived by her children Lana (Roy), Bob (Shellie), Joan (Mel), Jake (Margie), Kent, Carolyn (Mike), Jim (Brad), Jill (Andrae), 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many more relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and her daughter Renie.

At a later date, the family will have a private celebration of her life.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
