On May 31, 2019 we lost a very special man, the Reverend Doctor Phil Collins, who passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 88. His wife Lois was by his side at his home in Elim Village in Surrey, BC.
Phil was the life of the party and a theologian you would not want to mess with. His ministry began as a youth preaching on the streets of Toronto, eventually leading him into pastorates throughout the Maritimes, the State of Maine and on to British Columbia to become the Area Minister of British Columbia for what was then the Baptist Union of Western Canada, and finally to lead as principal of Carey Theological College at UBC. Those who knew him will invariably testify to what a positive impact he had on their lives.
He is survived by his wife Lois, sons Steve (Deb) and Doug (Karen), daughter Deb (Walt), grandchildren Brittany, Mika, Clayton, Zac, Derek, David, Samantha, Danika and great-grandson, Jacob with his soon to be born sibling.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 18, 2019 at BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH in Richmond, where we will mourn his passing and celebrate the moments of life that we shared with him. We look forward to seeing him again, when we are all united and there is no more pain, sickness or sorrow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Carey Theological College to support student scholarships would be greatly appreciated. https://carey-edu.ca/InMemoryOfCollins/
