Dave was born on a farm on the 7th line of Eramosa Township Ontario to John and Emma McDougall. He passed away in Burnaby B.C.
He came west at the age of 16 on the Harvest Excursion and later served his country in the army in World War II. He spent most of his working career in the forest industry going from chokerman on a steam donkey on the coast to VP & Treasurer of Crestbrook Forest Industries; something he was very proud of.
While working in the pulp mill in Prince Rupert Dave met Peggy Gowan and they married in 1955. Dave loved life. After retirement he traveled the world with his wife Peggy. He played a lot of cards and was very proficient at bridge and poker. He also found time to fish and hunt. Most of all he loved his family.
Dave is survived by his wife of 64 years Peggy, son Tom (Patsy), and grandsons Cole and Jake, his daughter Kara (Rick) and grandsons Donovan and Drew, and daughter Shelly (Dave) and grandson Phillip; and also his many nieces and nephews and a special caregiver Joy. Special thanks go out to Dr. J Grewal for her great care and compassion.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, five siblings and a niece Susan Prichard.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Allen Emmott Centre, 6650 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby, BC.
